I love that the amazing Buddhist nun, Tenzin Palmo, went to live in Assisi after being moved on by Indian officials after many years meditating alone in her Himalayan cave. In Assisi she spent time 'swapping stories and robe wearing methods' with Christian nuns and finding much commonality. Tenzin Palmo felt a very strong connection with Assisi and the aura of sanctity left by St Francis which gives Assisi its mystical feeling. It’s an extraordinary place. “It’s the only place I miss besides my cave," she said. She wanted to build a small retreat house there but the government denied her a building permit. So, back into the world she went, ultimately to take on a busy public schedule of teaching around the world.
