This is a particularly serene and beautiful Jizo in female form. She is hand carved from crocodile wood, a beautiful close grained wood that is perfect for fine carving and develops even richer color with time.

Some perhaps not enlightened Buddhas yet, but superbly gifted at guiding all of us on the path to see clearly. “Form is no other than Emptiness, Emptiness no other than form. Form is only emptiness, Emptiness only Form... No eye, nose, ear, tongue, body...” So may this little Jizo Woman helps us see that women are Buddhas too and to reside in the emptiness of all.
