DESCRIPTION: Handcarved from Bentiwas wood. 25cm/10 inches

STORY: Jizo Bodhisattva, also known as Gentle Jizo, is the protector of women and children and helps beings both into a life and out again, going to the 6 realms to help all beings in need. He is also an integral part of the Mizuko Kuyo ceremony for children who have died before birth or soon after, giving those who loved the child a ritualized form to help with their grief.

This Jizo holding a baby has interesting wood grain as it is from a tree that has lived many years.
