This Jizo hold his hands palm to palm at heart center. "Gassho" a symbol of unity, appreciation, reverence, humility and prayer.
He was inspired by a stone Jizo in the halls of Great Vow Zen Monastery in Oregon, where Jan Chozen Bays and her husband Hogen Bays offer superb teachings. Please see all of her books to have the teachings with you if you can not ago there, and particularly her book 'Jizo Bodhisattva". They also offer this statue on their on line shop Zen Works.
He is carved from Bentiwas wood with a bit of color at his solar plexus. We have left him unsanded and unwaxed so he retains the feeling of the carver working on him.
